The US Green Building Council (USGBC) have confirmed that BRE-verified EPDs (Environmental Product Declaration) to EN 15804 are acceptable in LEED assessments.

This is good news for all CARES-approved companies within the Sustainable Constructional Steel (SCS) scheme as their company-specific EPD is now accepted in the USGBC’s LEED certification. SCS scheme-approved companies will be able to provide an EPD to BS EN 15804 ‘Sustainability of construction works - EPDs - Core rules for the product category of construction products’.

Following their successful engagement with the USGBC, BRE are also in discussions with a number of EPD programme operators in Europe and Australasia about mutual recognition of EPD.
