CARES is an independent, not-for-profit certification body, established in 1983 to provide confidence to the users, purchasers and specifiers of constructional steels through a regime of regulation, testing and inspection.

It operates for the benefit of the construction industry offering certification schemes for companies that produce materials, components or offer services, primarily to the reinforced concrete industry.

AUDITOR (TECHNICAL OFFICER) FOR CARES

Based at home with extensive national and international travel, we are looking for an Auditor to join the UK based team.

The role involves conducting surveillance inspections, assessment planning, auditing independent test laboratories and the supervision of sampling and testing followed by the production of associated reports.

The ideal candidate will be a Metallurgical Engineer/Material Science Engineer with a minimum of 5 years in the iron and steel industry.

Degree educated, you will ideally be a chartered engineer with a proven ability to build relationships and possess high levels of communication. Knowledge of constructional steel products and testing standards is required, along with experience and ideally a qualification in Quality Management System.

Knowledge and/or experience in Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems is also desirable.

Flexibility to travel, including occasionally at a weekend, is a prerequisite.
